GHAPACC’s objectives are in line with The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Children with the focus on health which states that, every child has the right to life, treatment of illness and rehabilitation of health. These objectives are:
• To provide support for children with cancer
• To make available to parents and families of newly-diagnosed children information and logistics of practical use.
• To organize support groups to assist children and their families to cope with the stress that the diagnosis brings.
• To provide assistance to parents and families to cope with the situation at the psychosocial, informational, physical, spiritual and financial levels where necessary.
• To provide an avenue for parents and families to interact and share common experiences.
• To advocate for improved care for children with cancer and other life threatening blood disorders.
To champion this course, the association since its launch in August 2008, has organized various activities in its bid to create awareness and provide emotional and financial support for children living with cancers and their families. The activities include:
• Family fun day at Sajuna Beach Club. It involved a day out for 120 children with cancer and their families
• Annual Christmas parties for children with cancer and their families held at Children’s block, Korle Bu Hospital
• Sponsored walk by parents of children with cancers and volunteers in commemoration of the International Childhood Cancer day which falls on 15th February

- Distribution of posters on early warning signs of childhood cancer
- Talks at schools
- Easter funfair at Aviation Social Centre in 2011
• Members of GHAPACC regularly visit children newly diagnosed with cancer and their parents on the wards at Korle Bu Hospital to provide psychosocial support, some food supplements and funds
• Fundraising for equipment for the Children’s cancer unit, KBTH resulting in Queensland school providing vital equipment for the Day Care Unit.
• Advocacy efforts have included meeting with the media at the International Press Centre, writing news articles and appearances on Television and radio shows.
